Educator supportAdvancing Knowledge NPC promotes a Culture of STEM Teaching by strengthening science and mathematics education through the professional development and sustained support of educators. STEM support for educators has been provided across the Western, Eastern, and Northern Cape provinces through inquiry-based training sessions, workshops, and SACE accredited courses.
Our core approach emphasises the illumination of scientific theory and curriculum content through practical, experimental, and inquiry-based teaching methodologies. This approach equips educators with the pedagogical tools needed to teach science and mathematics effectively, while simultaneously strengthening their content knowledge, laboratory skills, and assessment practices. The professional development courses are SACE accredited and contribute towards teachers’ Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points, thereby supporting career progression and promotion within the education system. AK NPC inquiry-based science training have been implemented in the Western Cape [Cape Metropole Central Education District (Lansdowne); Overberg (Grabouw and Fisherhaven); Cape Winelands (Worcester, Paarl, Stellenbosch); West Coast (Saldanha and Vreden burg), Eden & Central Karoo (Oudtshoorn and George), Eastern Cape (Butterworth, East London, King Williams Town, Mthatha and Nqamakwe) and Northern Cape (Upington, Kimberley and Kuruman) |
